PICMONKEY
PicMonkey is a web-based SaaS design and photo editor tool for SMBs, also with an accompanying mobile app. PicMonkey makes designing easy with templates that users can customize. PicMonkey was acquired by Shutterstock in 2021.
At PicMonkey, I lead UX efforts for Editor features, growth/funnel projects, and also led the PicMonkey Design System.
ONBOARDING
Onboarding was a big project of our Ease of Use initiative. As we added more features, the need to provide new users the basics to creating a design became crucial. I lead the UX design and research efforts for this project, while closely collaborating with the product manager and dev team.
COLLAGE
To prepare for the sunsetting of Flash at the end of 2020, PicMonkey launched the Editor on a new platform in 2017. One of our product initiatives was migrating users from the old platform to the new platform. Bringing the beloved Collage product to the new platform was an important project for this initiative. I lead the UX design work on this project, closely collaborating with the product manager and dev team.
PICMONKEY DESIGN SYSTEM
Pitched and lead PicMonkey's Design System initiative in parallel with visual refresh/transition to a new platform. Created a Design System by conducting a visual audit of existing components to see what patterns are needed and how we can simplify patterns and reduce ambiguity. Collaborated with other UX designers, developers and product managers to prioritize and execute new components by understanding use cases and requirements to put together a UI pattern library. Validated and evolve patterns as design requests come in by aligning to existing patterns as well as data from user feedback and usability testing.
